For this publication, ECAL is collaborating with trail equipment brand NNormal, founded by Kilian Jornet, who had just linked 82 Alpine peaks over 4,000 meters. Trail running, like photography, demands passion, discipline and endurance. ECAL’s Bachelor Photography students, though not all athletes, seek visual exploits. With technical mastery and risk-taking, they explore their own path. Led by NNormal’s artistic director and ECAL alumnus Régis Tosetti, with guest lecturer Nicolas Poillot, the project guides them toward a visual language. The mountain becomes a terrain for escape and imagination, with shoes as mediating elements—yet beyond gear, their work reveals light, textures, effort and improvised beauty.
